What is BOTOX and how does it work?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a trade name for botulinum toxin type A, a neurotoxin. In very small concentrations, botulinum toxin can be injected into humans and used to prevent the contraction of muscle cells by blocking signals between the nerve cells and the muscles. In other words, it acts as a paralytic agent.
For cosmetic purposes, this is done very strategically so that the muscles in a person’s brow area or around the eyes (crow’s feet) cannot tighten, scrunch up and wrinkle. This results in those smooth expanses of skin you may have noticed on girlfriends’ faces.
What to expect during a BOTOX procedure

And then, believe it or not, in as few as 10 minutes, you’ll be up on your feet ready to take on the rest of your day. There is no downtime. It is important not to rub the site of the injections, but otherwise, there’s very little else you’ll need to remember.
The procedure will begin working a few days after your treatment and will last up to 3 or 4 months. Yes, just 10 minutes for a smooth, youthful appearance that will last for as many as 120 days! No wonder BOTOX is still the number one non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to fight signs of aging.
