Chemical Peels treatment in San Diego

Siti Med Spa in San Diego offers chemical peels for anyone looking to give their skin a more youthful, healthy glow. Chemical peels are great for both men and women of any age.

We offer several different types of chemical peels that can help with pigmentation, wrinkles, tightening, acne and acne scars. If you’re not sure which peel is best for your skin type, the skin experts at Siti Med Spa can help you decide.

1. Jessner Peel

A Jessner Peel is a popular chemical peel that improves your skin by removing and healing damaged skin. The Jessner Peel helps to remove acne, blackheads, reduce wrinkles, lighten hyper-pigmentation and improve the overall appearance of sun-damaged, aging skin. The ingredients in a Jessner Peel work together to exfoliate the outer layers of skin by breaking up the dead skin cells. The Jessner Peel encourages the natural peeling to start just several days after the treatment.

2. Retin A Peel

Retin-A Peel is effective in older patients who have fine facial wrinkles caused by sun damage, and for younger individuals who want to combat the effects of aging from sun exposure. Patients are instructed to use Retin-A as a preparation treatment when having  a chemical peel treatment. With continued use of Retin-A, patients will begin to see subtle improvements in the tone and texture of their skin. Retin-A works by slowing down oil production, increases circulation, and peels off top layers of old skin cells. After a few months of treatment, patients report seeing a fade in wrinkles and age spots.

3. TCA Peel

TCA is a non-toxic chemical used to perform skin peels. When applied to the skin, TCA causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off, exposing “new” smoother skin. TCA Peels work to soften fine lines, improve the tone and texture of your skin, and minimize age spots and discolorations. TCA Peels are also widely used for reducing the appearance of acne scars. Areas available for treatment  include the face, arms, chest, legs, and back.

4. Pumpkin Peel

The Pumpkin Peel treatment resurfaces and rejuvenates your skin, working to combat ageing and acne. Pumpkin is high in Vitamin A, used to improve layers of the skin. Vitamin A is an active antioxidant, that targets parts of the skin responsible for cell turnover. The ingredients in a Pumpkin Peel work to strengthen your skin and combat the signs of ageing. The treatment will leave your skin looking and feeling rejuvenated.

Chemical peels are not one-size-fits-all treatments, and at Siti Med Spa, we offer a range of different chemical peels that can correct sun damage, pigmentation, wrinkles, acne and acne scars, resulting in healthy, radiant skin. What to Do After Your Chemical Peel for Best Results

If you have sun damaged skin, an uneven skin tone, or other facial hyper-pigmentation issues, a chemical peel can leave your skin brighter, smoother, and more radiant than ever. Chemical peels safely remove the top layers of your facial skin, and can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and overall dullness and roughness.

It’s important to note that the long-term results of your chemical peel are directly related to how well you care for your face afterward. For the best results possible, here are some guidelines for chemical peel aftercare:

Let your skin heal naturally

As the chemical peel sloughs off damaged skin cells to reveal the healthy glowing skin underneath, it might be tempting to pick off loose or peeling patches of dead skin cells. But picking at the skin interrupts its natural healing cycle, which can lead to scarring or permanent hyperpigmentation and increase your chance of infection.

When you’re able to cleanse your skin after the first day of your chemical peel, always pat dry, and do not rub or pull at the skin.

Gently clean your skin

Your skin will be in a delicate state following a chemical peel, so use gentle cleansers for daily washing and avoid harsh exfoliating products or skin-cleansing devices. You should also avoid using products with ingredients that could cause further irritation, such as retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids.

We recommend leaving the peel on for as long as possible, at least 8 hours or overnight. On the first day, you may wash your face with a gentle cleanser, such as the SkinMedica Facial Cleanser, but avoid applying makeup or any other products.

Starting the second day, it will be okay to continue a daily morning and night facial cleanse, but avoid exfoliation at all costs during the healing period.

Moisturize in moderation

The chemicals in a chemical peel can make your skin feel tight, dry and itchy at first,  which might lead you to believe your skin needs tons of moisturizer. However, the whole point of a chemical peel is to allow the dull, damaged skin cells to flake and peel away, and if you over-moisturize, the dead cells will remain in place. For the first day or two after the chemical peel, try to use little to no moisturizer, and afterward, gently apply a thin layer of moisturizer without rubbing it into the skin. SkinMedica’s TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream nourishes, hydrates, and rejuvenates skin gently while it heals from a chemical peel.

Protect your skin from the sun

Ideally, you should stay out of the sun for the first week or two after a chemical peel, but if you have to be outside, use a broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher on your face and reapply every two hours. SkinMedica’s Essential Defense Mineral Shield Broad Spectrum Sunscreen features SPF 35 protection, while also repairing sun damaged skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Minimize skin irritation

In addition to using gentle products on your skin and avoiding the urge to peel off dead skin patches, you can reduce irritation following a chemical peel by wearing your hair pulled back. You should also minimize sweating, as the salt from your sweat can sting your skin. Additionally, try to avoid eating acidic foods like tomato sauce or citrus fruit, which can also sting or irritate if drops of food happen to touch your face. After Day 7, you should be able to start up your normal skincare regimen again, as long as your skin is not still peeling.
