Kybella® Double Chin Treatment in San Diego

Learn about Siti Med Spa in San Diego's KYBELLA treatment to improve the appearance and profile of fat below the chin, also called "double chin."

What Is Kybella®?

KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat under the chin, also known as "submental fullness" or "double chin."

Kybella® May Be Right for You if:

  • You're bothered by submental fullness

  • Surgery isn't an option for you

  • You feel that your submental fullness makes you look older or heavier than you are

  • You exercise and eat healthy, but submental fullness does not go away.

How Is Kybella® Administered?

Your provider will inject KYBELLA® into the fat under your chin during a 15- to 20-minute in-office treatment. Typically, 2-4 treatments are needed for patients to experience visible contouring of their chin profile. You and your provider will decide on the best treatment plan for you.

Who Should Not Receive Kybella®?

Before receiving KYBELLA®, it's important that you tell your provider about all of your medical conditions and medicines you take (including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements). Especially tell your healthcare provider if you take a medicine that prevents the clotting of your blood (antiplatelet or anticoagulant medicine).

You should not receive KYBELLA® if you have an infection in the treatment area; have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin; have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin; have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area; have had or have trouble swallowing; have bleeding problems; are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA® will harm your unborn baby); are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA® passes into your breast milk; talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to feed your baby if you receive KYBELLA®).

What Are the Possible Side Effects of Kybella®?

KYBELLA® can cause serious side effects, including trouble swallowing and nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness.

The most common side effects of KYBELLA® include: swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
